Broadcast message examplesFlash sales
A flash sale differs from a regular promotion because customers must decide within a few hours. So the sale price, start time and end time belong in the first lines. If customers still have to ask “what time does it end?”, the message isn't clear enough.
Who to send to
Send to customers who messaged your Page in the last 24 hours, then filter by the label for the discounted product category. For example, if sunscreen is on sale, pick the “Interested in skincare” label instead of the whole Page. To grow the group you can reach, post on your Page before the sale: “Message us to get notified when the flash sale opens.”
When to send
Send twice: once when the flash sale opens and again about 30–60 minutes before it closes. Lunch breaks or after work suit customers with day jobs. The second message should speak to people who haven't ordered yet, e.g. “Haven't grabbed yours yet…”, so those who already bought don't feel chased. Announce the sale days ahead with a Page post instead.

Flash sales: tips that get results
- Write the actual closing time, e.g. “ends at 9:00 PM”, instead of “2 hours left”. Customers read at different times, and anyone who opens it late will get the time wrong.
- If you run sale rounds, invite replies, e.g. “Tell us which round you're waiting for”. A customer who replies starts a fresh 24-hour window, so you can still reach them for the next round.
- The number of units you mention must match real stock. If it sells out early, post it on your Page right away. Don't let customers pay first and then tell them it's gone.
- If the flash sale price has conditions, like a required code or one per customer, put them on the same line as the price, not hidden at the end of the message.
- If you run a flash sale every week, rotate the products. Discount the same item repeatedly and customers stop buying at full price and just wait for the next round.
Before you send
Promotional messages can only go to customers who messaged your Page in the last 24 hours. See the details in the 24-hour rule. Customers outside that window can only receive non-promotional updates through Facebook-approved templates
FAQ: Flash sales
- What conditions should a flash sale message include?
- At minimum: the sale price, start and end times down to the hour, the quantity available if limited, and any conditions that affect the price, such as a per-customer limit. Shops that close sales in chat should also set how many minutes customers have to pay after reserving. Otherwise items sit reserved with nobody paying.
- Should a flash sale message include an image or just text?
- The launch message should include a product photo showing the sale price, because customers see the image before they read. A last-call message can be text only. If you attach an image, use a JPEG or PNG of about 75KB so it uploads quickly while being sent to each customer.
- A customer messages after the flash sale ended. Should I still give the sale price?
- Stick to the announced time. If you often honor the price after closing, customers learn there's no need to hurry. But if the customer messaged in time and your admin was slow to reply, give them the sale price, since the delay was on your side. A short reply that works: “This round has closed. We'll announce the next one on our Page!”
