Broadcast message examplesMother's Day promotions
A Mother's Day promotion differs from a regular sale because the buyer isn't buying for themselves. Customers decide based on “will Mom like it?” and “will it reach her by Mother's Day?” Messages that work help choose a gift that suits her, state the last order date for on-time delivery, and offer to ship straight to Mom's home. The tone should be warm, with less urgency than a flash sale.
Who to send to
Send to customers who messaged you in the last 24 hours, picking labels for people who asked about gifts or ordered for someone else, e.g. “Gift” or “Ships to another address”. Customers who work far from home are the ones who need direct delivery to Mom. In the weeks before Mother's Day, post “Mother's Day gift ideas” on your Page to get people messaging you first.
When to send
Send the main round about 1–1.5 weeks before Mother's Day, so customers have time to choose and you have time to pack. Send a second round 1–2 days before your cut-off date for on-time delivery. The cut-off depends on your carrier and the distance; if Mother's Day falls on a long holiday weekend, allow extra days. After the cut-off, switch to items customers can pick up, or say clearly that the gift will arrive after Mother's Day.

Mother's Day promotions: tips that get results
- Give the last order date as a real date, e.g. “order by [date]”, instead of “order before Mother's Day”. Customers don't know which carrier you use or how many days it takes.
- If you ship directly to the recipient, say in the message that you leave out the receipt and price. Gift buyers worry about it but rarely ask.
- Recommend gifts by what Mom is like rather than listing best-sellers. Customers are thinking about their own mom, not what other people bought.
- After the cut-off date, don't send buy-now messages without saying when the item will arrive. If it will land after Mother's Day, say so clearly, or offer pickup instead.
- Be careful with lines that assume every customer still has a mom or lives near her. If a customer replies about this, apologize sincerely and label them so you remember not to send them Mother's Day messages again.
Before you send
Promotional messages can only go to customers who messaged your Page in the last 24 hours. See the details in the 24-hour rule. Customers outside that window can only receive non-promotional updates through Facebook-approved templates
FAQ: Mother's Day promotions
- When should I start sending Mother's Day promotions?
- Start posting invitations to message you on your Page a few weeks ahead, and send the main broadcast round early enough to leave time for choosing, packing and shipping. If you send too close to Mother's Day, some customers won't dare order because they fear it won't arrive in time.
- A customer orders after the cut-off and it won't arrive by Mother's Day. What should I do?
- Tell the customer honestly before taking payment roughly when it will arrive, and let them decide. One option is to send a photo of the gift or card that they can forward to Mom on the day, with the item following later; another is pickup if they live near your shop. Don't take the order and let them believe it will arrive in time.
- Do I need Mother's Day flowers or symbols in the image or message?
- No. Flowers and other familiar Mother's Day symbols can decorate an image or be a small free extra. But if your product has nothing to do with flowers, a real photo of the product neatly gift-wrapped tells customers more directly what they'll get.
